The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a significant reduction in the cost of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage, following a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu aimed at easing financial pressure on intending pilgrims.
The revised fare structure offers substantial relief across all operational zones, with the Southern Zone seeing the highest reduction of ₦792,943.83. The new fare for Southern pilgrims is ₦7,991,141.76, down from ₦8,784,085.59. Northern Zone pilgrims will pay ₦7,696,769.76, reflecting a ₦760,915.83 cut, while those from the Borno and Adamawa Zone—the lowest nationwide—will pay ₦7,579,020.96, saving ₦748,104.63.
NAHCON has set December 5, 2025, as the final deadline for payment. The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board echoed the urgency, urging all intending pilgrims to complete payments promptly. Board Secretary AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s new Hajj policies require early documentation and visa processing, making strict adherence to the deadline essential.
Ajomagberin assured pilgrims who have paid above the revised fare that refunds will be processed after reconciliation. He also encouraged those who have yet to make any payment to act swiftly.
To boost awareness and participation, the board will intensify its advocacy campaign across Lagos State’s 57 LGAs and LCDAs, engaging council chairmen, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and major sponsors.
Ajomagberin expressed gratitude to the state government and stakeholders for their continued support and reaffirmed the board’s commitment to delivering a seamless and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience.
