High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo and chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, has committed ₦10 billion to the Delta State Security Trust Fund—marking one of the largest private contributions to a state-level security initiative in Nigeria’s history.
The announcement was made Wednesday during the official launch of the fund in Asaba, attended by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, senior government officials, security leaders, and community stakeholders. The trust fund, designed as a public-private partnership, aims to address persistent security challenges across the state and foster a safer environment for residents and businesses.
Tompolo, a former militant turned peace advocate and influential figure in Niger Delta stability, described the donation as a pledge to long-term peace in the oil-producing region. The fund will support local patrols, technological upgrades, and community engagement programs—building on existing efforts to combat oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and other forms of unrest.
Governor Oborevwori hailed the donation as transformative, stating, “This partnership shows what we can achieve when hands join together.” He emphasized that the funds would enhance ground-level security operations and modern surveillance systems, critical to maintaining the recent decline in kidnappings and sabotage incidents.
Sources close to the launch confirmed that the donation comes with no conditions, and the funds are earmarked exclusively for security infrastructure and personnel training.
As Nigeria continues to confront insecurity from the northeast to the south-south, Delta State’s model—combining government authority with private sector investment and community leadership—is drawing national attention. The ₦10 billion infusion is expected to accelerate response times and reinforce protective measures against threats that have long affected the region.
