Sixteen-year-old Rio Ngumoha scored a stunning 100th-minute winner, securing Liverpool a hard fought 3-2 Premier League victory against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on August 25, 2025.

Ryan Gravenberch fired Liverpool ahead in the 35th minute with a long-range strike, and Hugo Ekitike doubled the lead early in the second half. 

Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon was sent off before halftime after a VAR-reviewed foul on Virgil van Dijk. Despite being a man down, Newcastle rallied with Bruno Guimarães’ 57th-minute header and William Osula’s 88th-minute equalizer. 

Ngumoha, assisted by Mohamed Salah, slotted home in stoppage time, becoming Liverpool’s youngest scorer.

The win keeps Liverpool’s strong start under Arne Slot, while Newcastle’s Eddie Howe lamented the red card’s impact.
