The Federal Government has announced that the implementation of the N54.99 trillion 2025 national budget, dubbed the “Budget of Restoration,” will commence before the end of September, aiming to drive economic growth and improve public service delivery.
Tanimu Yakubu, Director-General of the Budget Office of the Federation, disclosed this during the third quarter ministerial stakeholders and citizens engagement forum in Abuja, hosted by the Ministry of Budget and National Planning. Yakubu emphasized that the budget prioritizes investments in sectors critical for inclusive development, with fiscal discipline and efficiency as key drivers of its success.
He noted that as the 2024 fiscal year concludes, preparations are underway to ensure a seamless transition to the new budget cycle.
In a related development, Vice President Kashim Shettima directed the Presidential Food Systems Coordinating Unit (PFSCU) to expedite the disbursement of a N250 billion credit facility for smallholder farmers at single-digit interest rates.
Speaking at the sixth PFSCU steering committee meeting at the Presidential Villa, Shettima instructed the unit to develop a clear implementation roadmap to ensure prompt delivery of funds to intended beneficiaries, addressing delays to support agricultural productivity.
