US President Donald Trump is set to arrive in Britain next week for a high-profile state visit, accompanied by some of the most influential figures in the global tech industry.

According to reports from Sky News and CNBC, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, and Apple’s Tim Cook have been invited to join the delegation, signaling a potential turning point in UK-US tech collaboration.

The visit, scheduled from September 17 to 19, will include a state banquet hosted by King Charles at Windsor Castle. The presence of these AI heavyweights has sparked speculation about new corporate deals and strategic investments, particularly in artificial intelligence and data infrastructure.

Huang, whose company recently surpassed a $4 trillion market valuation, has previously criticized the UK’s lack of AI infrastructure, calling it “the largest AI ecosystem in the world without its own infrastructure” during London Tech Week in June. Nvidia is currently the global leader in AI-focused chips and has been negotiating export waivers with the US government to maintain access to international markets.

Altman’s OpenAI, meanwhile, signed a memorandum of understanding with the UK government earlier this year to explore investment in British data centers. The UK has also proposed “AI growth zones” to fast-track development in regions with adequate energy supply.

The visit comes amid broader efforts by the UK government to position itself as a hub for advanced technology. Business Secretary Peter Kyle was recently in Washington to build momentum for a tech-focused trade deal ahead of the state visit.

While the trip is expected to highlight cooperation in AI and nuclear energy, it also unfolds against a backdrop of trade tensions, particularly over tariffs and pharmaceutical pricing.

Industry experts from the London School of Economics and the Institute for Government say the visit could either reinforce existing partnerships or expose regulatory gaps that need urgent attention.

The inclusion of top tech CEOs underscores the strategic importance of AI in transatlantic relations. As one senior UK official put it, “This isn’t just diplomacy—it’s industrial policy in motion.”
