NAFDAC Alerts Public on Counterfeit Kiss Condoms Circulating in Nigeria

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued Public Alert No. 042/2025 warning Nigerians about counterfeit Kiss Condoms in circulation, following reports from marketing authorisation holder DKT International Nigeria.

The fake products pose serious health risks due to potential quality failures and lack of proper manufacturing standards.

NAFDAC urged immediate cessation of sale/distribution and reporting of suspected stocks to nearest offices or via 0800-162-3322.

How to Spot Counterfeit Kiss Condoms:

1. Box Pack (Front Side)

  • Original: Instructions at bottom: "Please read the instructions carefully – Single-use only if reused, there might be an increased risk of failure or infection."
  • Fake: Missing or altered instructions.

2. Condom Pack

  • Original: Light red colour; "Kiss" written closely on 6 lines.
  • Fake: Darker red; "Kiss" loosely spaced on 5 lines; condom strip inconsistencies.

3. Wallet (Outer)

  • Original: Lighter red; Address: Oshodi-Apapa; Full manufacturer details; Description: "Natural colored, unscented, straight-walled, teat-ended, natural rubber latex condoms"; Colour wave present; Hidden flap with REV date, MDSS address, caution info.
  • Fake: Darker red; Wrong address (42 Montgomery Road, Yaba); Missing manufacturer; Description: "Transparent..."; No colour wave; No hidden flap info; Inconsistent barcode.

Wallet (Inner)

  • Original: Detailed instructions; 8 bullet points under Important Notes.
  • Fake: Summarised; 6 bullet points.

Consumers are advised to verify products and report adverse effects.
