Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, successfully ambushed and disrupted a major logistics convoy of suspected Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS)/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in the early hours of Sunday along the Buni Gari–Buratai axis between Sojiri and Kayamla villages in Borno State.
Acting on credible intelligence about the movement of supplies being transported on bicycles, the joint team deployed to an interception point late Saturday night. Contact was made around 2:24 a.m., sparking a fierce firefight in which 17–21 terrorists were neutralised (figures vary across sources), while others fled wounded. No Nigerian casualties were reported.
Recovered items included:
- Multiple bicycles
- Assorted weapons and ammunition
- Foodstuffs, drugs, and medical supplies
- Detergents, clothing, torchlights, and other logistics materials
Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, confirmed the operation in a statement, praising the “renewed vigor” of intelligence-driven efforts that continue to degrade terrorist networks.
The success reveals insurgents’ reliance on low-profile pedal transport in remote areas as military pressure intensifies. Follow-up operations are ongoing to trace fleeing fighters and prevent resupply.
